XC8112/13: Dual-Channel Load Switch with Ideal Diode

Chip-Enable (CE) Function & Overcurrent Protection by TOREX

The TOREX XC8112 and XC8113 are dual-channel load switch ICs, each equipped with an integrated ideal diode, a chip-enable (CE) function, overcurrent protection, inrush current limiting, and thermal shutdown. The XC8112 supports up to 0.5A per channel, while the XC8113 supports up to 1A per channel, providing flexible options for various load requirements.

Lowering the Power Loss

Unlike typical Schottky barrier diodes, commonly used to block reverse currents, the ideal diode in the TOREX XC8112/13 ICs reduces forward voltage (VF) to roughly 1/20 of the level seen in Schottky diodes, which significantly lowers the power loss. Despite the extremely low VF of just 20mV, the reverse leakage current from VOUT to VIN remains at 0µA, closely matching the ideal diode characteristics. These features facilitate an easy OR configuration at the output, allowing the XC8112/13 ICs to effectively reduce battery consumption in backup power circuits.

Typical applications include the discussed OR configurations with true reverse current prevention, battery backup circuits to avoid backflow in parallel battery setups, shipping mode cut-off, and parallel configurations for higher current requirements with lower RON.

The ICs are available in a compact low-profile USP-8B06 package measuring just 2.0x2.0x0.33mm. Samples are available for order at any time.
