Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitors

Aluminum electrolytic capacitors offer high capacitance values at competitive cost. RUBYCON combines proprietary electrolyte and materials technologies with continuous miniaturization, low impedance, high ripple-current capability, and long service life.

  • SMD: Compact chip-type electrolytic capacitors for automated assembly. Depending on the series, solutions are available for long service life, low impedance, high temperatures, and automotive requirements.
  • Radial/THT: Versatile leaded series for power supplies, filtering and buffering functions, and industrial and automotive applications. The portfolio includes low-ESR, long-life, high-temperature, and high-voltage versions.
  • Snap-in: High-capacitance capacitors for high-power power supplies and DC-link circuits. The series combine high voltage and ripple-current capability with compact dimensions and a range of service-life classes.

Hybrid Capacitors – P and C Series

RUBYCON's hybrid capacitors combine a conductive polymer with a specially developed functional liquid. This provides low ESR, high ripple-current capability, stable performance across a wide temperature range, and high reliability. They are particularly well suited to miniaturizing power-supply and motor-control circuits.

The hybrid portfolio comprises the established P Series and the capacitance-optimized C Series in both SMD and leaded radial/THT versions. Depending on the form factor and series, solutions are available with low ESR, high capacitance, high ripple-current capability, long service life, and suitability for high operating temperatures. This supports both compact, automatically assembled designs and robust applications using leaded components. Polymer Multi-Layer Capacitors – PMLCAP

PMLCAPs use a polymer dielectric structure deposited in a vacuum. They are non-polar, compact, and feature strong electrical performance, high-temperature resistance, and extremely low acoustic noise. This makes them a high-performance alternative when ceramic capacitors cannot meet the required capacitance, stability, or low-noise performance.

  • Standard- and Low-Voltage PMLCAPs: The SMD series MU, MF, MS, and NS cover 10 to 200 VDC, depending on the version. Standard, miniaturized, and humidity-resistant variants are available.
  • High-Voltage PMLCAPs: The HPB series is available in a box-type package for 500 and 900 VDC and operates at temperatures up to 125°C. It combines high voltage capability with a compact form factor and is designed for high-power-density high-voltage circuits. Looking ahead, the planned HPM module series will enable application-specific solutions.

Which RUBYCON Technology Is Right for My Application?

Aluminum electrolytic capacitors are generally the most economical choice for high capacitance and conventional buffering, smoothing, and DC-link tasks. Hybrid capacitors are recommended when low ESR, high ripple current, stable temperature characteristics, and compact dimensions are critical. Unlike from other companies, RUBYCON's hybrid capacitors use their original functional liquid, resulting in more stable characteristics and excess ripple current acceptance. PMLCAPs are nonpolar and particularly suitable for high frequencies, low losses, high temperature resistance, and extremely low-noise circuits. Low-voltage PMLCAPs are ideal for solving various problems which MLCC has, and high-voltage PMLCAPs can reduce the size by nearly half to same spec film capacitors with other advantages. CODICO will assess the requirements of your specific design and suggest the appropriate technology and series. How Can the Service Life of a RUBYCON Electrolytic Capacitor Be Determined?

Service life depends primarily on ambient temperature, component temperature, applied ripple current, and the resulting self-heating. CODICO can estimate the expected service life using RUBYCON's calculation models and work with RUBYCON's engineers to determine which series offers sufficient technical margin. The result is a reference value rather than a guarantee, but it supports a reliable and cost-effective product selection.
