High-Performance Data Radio Module Maca2 by 8DEVICES
Stable Wireless Connections up to 80km
8DEVICES expands its portfolio of high-performance data radio solutions with the Maca2, designed for applications requiring exceptionally long communication ranges. The system was specifically developed for use cases such as drone communication and enables stable wireless connections over distances of up to 80km.
SamplesPowerful RF Front-End for Maximum Range
The RF front-end is equipped with high-quality Power Amplifiers (PAs) and Low Noise Amplifiers (LNAs). This allows the module to achieve an output power of up to 36dBm per transmission chain, along with a high receiver sensitivity of -98dBm. This combination forms the basis for its outstanding communication range. Another key feature is the flexible use of the IEEE 802.11 b/g/n standard. It supports extended channel bandwidths (1.5–19.5MHz) as well as an expanded frequency range from 2152 to 2852MHz.
High Processing Power and Flexible Software Platform
For data processing, a powerful Wi-Fi MIMO 2x2 SoC from Qualcomm is used. The integrated MIPS 24K processor running at 650MHz ensures reliable performance. With 32MB of flash and 128MB of RAM, the module offers sufficient memory resources and comes preinstalled with the Robosoft platform from 8DEVICES.
Robust Design for Industrial Applications
The Maca2 module features an embedded heatsink for efficient heat dissipation and is designed exclusively for the industrial temperature range. This makes it ideal for use in demanding environments.
What are the Advantages of the Maca2 Radio Module for Long-Range Communication?
The Maca2 radio module was specifically developed for long-range applications and enables stable wireless connections over distances of up to 80km. Thanks to its powerful RF front-end with up to 36dBm output power, high receiver sensitivity, and flexible use of the IEEE 802.11 b/g/n standard, it provides a reliable and efficient solution for industrial wireless data communication.
